Tool of the Month - January 2020

Posted in WOLF-Garten Blog by Lee Wills on 22/01/2020

Hmm, rather mild this year

Often a somewhat cruel and harsh season with bitter winds and snow, this January has been somewhat tame.

Nevertheless for most of us it would be prudent to remain indoors, cosy up and plan ahead for the warmer summer months.

Here are this month's top ten jobs (according to Royal Horticultural Society):

  • Recycle your Christmas tree by shredding it for mulch
  • Clean pots and greenhouses ready for spring
  • Dig over any vacant plots that have not been dug already
  • Disperse worm casts in lawns
  • Inspect stored tubers of Dahlia, Begonia and Canna for rots or drying out
  • Prune apple and pear trees
  • Start forcing rhubarb
  • Plan your vegetable crop rotations for the coming season
  • Keep putting out food and water for hungry birds
  • Make a polythene shelter for outdoor peaches and nectarines, to protect against peach leaf curl

Leave the ladder in the shed and invest in a robust solution to pruning your apple trees, the Wolf Garten telescopic handles can be used with a wide range of heads. For pruning you can purchase the ZMV4 which extends from 200cm to a whopping 4 metres. See it in action:

We are now currently offering a great set as a bundle deal:
The Wolf Garten Professional Tree Care Bundle.

This includes a very good saw and an adjustable anvil lopper head which will help you make light work of both thick and thin branches.
